Attracting a new audience

Jackpocket is attracting a new demographic of players to the Lottery: younger, tech-savvy professionals. This is a group that is accustomed to on-demand digital services and currently underserved by retailers.

Studies have also shown that the convenience of online lottery play does not negatively impact retailer sales. It fact, it may be the opposite as Michigan retails sales increased after online play was introduced:

Michigan iLottery not cannibalizing traditional sales

The Michigan Lottery projects that it will generate $480 million during the first eight years of online games. The internet games have not cannibalized sales from retailers. "There is no indication that the online games are affecting sales at our 11,000 retailers," said Holyfield. "In fact, we continue to see sales growing in all channels."

Features Benefiting Retailers (and Consumers)

Retailer Locator

With the Jackpocket app, players can find the nearest lottery retailer anywhere in the country using an in-app map for the purposes of buying tickets, purchasing goods, or even claiming a winning prize.

In-Store Redemption

In-store redemptions will allow Jackpocket players to redeem winning tickets using their phones at any existing retail location. This will drive new customers with cash-in-hand to retail businesses.

Refill Cards

Jackpocket players can refill credits to their accounts at traditional Retail Network locations. This provides additional convenience to the players as well as added benefit to retailers.

Retail Promotions

Jackpocket has created a channel for retailers to acquire new customers via in-app promotions. Retailers will have the ability to target nearby players with relevant offers such as instant tickets.
